In the second place, Vijayawada RTA stands with 8448 vehicle tax defaulters. In Nandigama RTA limits, there are around 3,214 vehicles.

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC), E.Meera Prasad, has announced that they are going to seize all the Vehicles which are not paying taxes from long ago.

This decision created a sensation in the Krishna District. According to RT authorities, around 21,340 vehicles’ registration certificates will be cancelled after the DTC orders. 9,678 huge vehicles in Guduvada RTA limits have been travelling on the roads without paying taxes.

In the second place, Vijayawada RTA stands with 8448 vehicle tax defaulters. In Nandigama RTA limits, there are around 3,214 vehicles.

The RT authorities will seize those Registration certificates (RC) of cancelled vehicles when they appear on the roads. These seized vehicles will be transferred to the scrap. The authorities will also take strict action against those drivers who brought the registration cancelled vehicles on the roads.

They will be prosecuted and will have to pay a huge fine. As the Road Transport authority is one of the major sources of the State’s income, they are trying to improve all the factors that will increase the income. Through this step, the RTA is trying to break the records of earlier targets through which the income is earned. Thus, they are looking for those missing links that can increase the income of the RTA.

In this regard, it has completed its survey of the number of ambulances, auto rickshaws, harvesters, contact carriers, harvester tractors, school buses, goods carriers, Maxi Cabs, motor cabs, stage carriers, auto tractors and trolleys. They have identified that the Vijayawada, Gudivada, Nandigama RTA limit people, despite being tax defaulters, are still using their Vehicles. The RTA has issued them notices and has given a week’s time. Meanwhile, the tax defaulters have overlooked the notices of the RTA issued. As there is no response even after two months of the notices issued, DTC has taken the decision of Mock Cancellation of the registrations all the vehicles of the tax defaulters.

Almost 8,461 autos, 3,370 goods transport vehicles and 2176 three wheeler goods transport vehicles are in the top place. 532 Maxi Cabs, 229 Tractors, 152 school buses, 1400 trolleys are running on the roads without paying tax.

There may be outdated vehicles in huge numbers, and all the registrations are being cancelled. The contract carrier buses, private service vehicles, Omni buses and stage carriers are less in number in this defaulters list.

“If there are any outdated vehicles that were sent to the scrap, they should also inform the RT authorities. Then there is a possibility to delete them from the tax defaulters list,” said E. Meera Prasad, DTC, Vijayawada.

“There is a chance of revoking the registration certificates after paying the taxes” he added. He was also of the opinion that there may be 80 per cent scrap vehicles in the list of the tax defaulters’ vehicles.
