Medak: Miraculous escape for 48 RTC passengers

As many as 48 passengers travelling in a RTC bus escaped unhurt when a fire broke out in the bus in Medak district on Friday morning.

Hyderabad: As many as 48 passengers travelling in a RTC bus escaped unhurt when a fire broke out in the bus in Medak district on Friday morning. Passengers jumped off the bus by breaking open the window panes, while their valuables were gutted in the fire. The incident happened at Kulcharam village.

According to sources, the bus, belonging to Banswada depot in Kamareddy district, started from Banswada with 48 passengers to Hyderabad via Medak. At Kulcharam bus stop, the bus halted for passengers to board and the fire was noticed by an alert driver, Bhumesh, and conductor, Radha.

Though the passengers lost all their bags, none of them suffered injuries. A fire tender was rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

The police suspects that the fire could have been caused by a short circuit in the bus engine.
