Koramangala police inspect BMTC complex after threat

Koramangala police station with a dog squad arrived in the morning and checked the premises for any suspicious looking objects.

Bengaluru: The Koramangala police on Friday inspected the BMTC Commercial Complex on 80-Feet Road over an alleged security threat to the building, which has the office of Deccan Chronicle and prominent Central government departments - the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Income Tax.

According to sources a police team from Koramangala police station with a dog squad arrived in the morning and checked the premises for any suspicious looking objects. They found nothing suspicious, but asked the building in charge to operate only one lift and close the staircase, which leads to the ninth floor. Being a public holiday the government offices were closed and only one lift was kept operational for DC staff. When DC inquired from Additional Commissioner, East, Seemant Singh regarding the inspection, he said there was no specific security alert for the BMTC commercial complex and the police inspection was a routine affair.

“The police routinely inspect government buildings and sensitive installations for security reasons. On special occasions like the Independence Day and Republic Day the level of vigilance is high everywhere,” Singh said.
