Rajahmundry: The 69th Republic Day celebrations were held with patriotic fervor by government and private institutions in Godavari districts on Friday.
In Rajahmundry, Urban SP B. Raja Kumari called upon the police personnel to work hard collectively in cooperation with the people to maintain law and order and control crime to win the confidence of the people and help them live with peace and happiness.
Taking part in the 69th Republic Day celebrations held here on Friday, the SP claimed credit for cracking several cases by taking the culprits to task.
She called upon the police to work with renewed vigour to live up to the expectations of the people and said that they were ready to face any trouble to tackle it deftly.
A demonstration by the police personnel on ‘ambush and counter attack’ received much appreciation from the people.
Later in the evening, a motorcycle rally was taken out to bring about awareness among the people on wearing helmet from District Police Office to Pushkar ghat wading through main thoroughfares in the city.
Ms Raja Kumari flagged off the rally. A power-point presentation was made at the Pushkar ghat on how to prevent road accidents. Out of 150 accidents registered last year involving motorcycles, 56 accidents reported deaths due to failing to wear helmet while riding the bikes.
At Adi Kavi Nannaya University, its vice-chancellor M. Muthyalu Naidu hoisted the national flag and called upon the students and the staff to work with unity and make the university a role model in providing quality education and registering good academic performance.
In West Godavari at Eluru, district collector K. Bhaskar called upon the students to develop inquisitive attitude and good personality along with education and knowledge to become good citizens of the country while taking part in the Republic Day fete held at CRR College held under the aegis of school education department.
He asked the teachers to teach with commitment and dedication to the students to help them fare well in their studies.
He advised the students to take part in sports and games as such move would help them get physical fitness and self-confidence.
