Cm Siddaramaiah Asks BJP MLA To Take Corruption Charge to a Logical End
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday asked Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal to take his allegations to a logical end against BJP senior leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa’s government (2019-21) of indulging in about Rs 40,000 crore corruption during the Covid-19 pandemic and wanted Yatnal to submit documents in his possession to retired Justice Nagmohan Das who is probing allegations of 40 percent corruption against the previous State Government led by BJP.
In a statement here, Chief Minister said that the allegations levelled by BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal gives support to the Congress party charge against the previous BJP government of indulging in 40 percent commission but the allegations by Yatnal points at more than the corruption estimated by the Congress party. “It is 10 times more than our estimate,” the Chief Minister observed.
Siddaramaiah said Yatnal should not go back on his corruption charge and show his commitment to rout out corruption. He said that Yatnal has been constantly levelling allegations against B.S. Yediyurappa, his son B.Y. Vijayendra, incumbent BJP MLA and also the State BJP Chief in Karnataka, and some of the Ministers in Yediyurappa cabinet when Covid-19 hit the State and “It is no surprise that State BJP leaders remain silent over it,” he noted.
Reffering to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would not indulge in corruption or allow corruption under him, Siddaramaiah sought answer from the Prime Minister and questioned his silence over the allegations levelled by his party MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal against B.S. Yediyurappa.
He told Modi that his silence over the Yatnal’s allegations gives room for suspicion that BJP Central leadership might also have their share in the corruption alleged to have happened during Covid-19 pandemic.
