Anganwadis stage protest in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ Union in Vizag district staged a protest, using the holy symbol of the cross representing Jesus Christ. P. Mani, the honourary president of the union, criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of neglecting the issues faced by Anganwadis. Mani drew a parallel, stating that Reddy's actions resembled the punishment Jesus Christ endured while advocating for the liberation of slaves.

The agitation continued for the 14th day at the GVMC Gandhi statue, where Anganwadi workers recreated the crucifixion of Jesus Christ as part of their strike. Following this dramatic protest, the participants marked Christmas by cutting a cake, which was then distributed to all present.

Expressing frustration, P. Mani remarked, "The government seems to have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the promises made to Anganwadi Workers and Helpers." She asserted that the movement would persist until the issues faced by Anganwadis were effectively addressed.
