Srisailam priest suspended for holding tantrik' rituals

Acting swiftly, the temple's executive officer Rama Chandra Murthy suspended the priest on Tuesday.

Kurnool: A priest of the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Srisailam in Kurnool district was on Tuesday suspended for allegedly performing tantrik rituals in the temple town.

Ganti Radha Krishna, the Atharvana Veda scholar employed to perform Maha Paryana at Sri Bhramaramba temple, was caught performing tantric rituals at his quarter SRC 31 by the temple staff. Acting swiftly, the temple’s executive officer Rama Chandra Murthy suspended the priest on Tuesday.

A temple staffer said that there was a rift between the executive officer and Radha Krishna ever since the former assumed office. Radha Krishna enjoyed a good rapport with former executive officer Bharat Gupta.

What sparked the swift action was the purpose of the ritual, which was to oust the executive officer from the post. Radha Krishna was said to be performing rituals for the past three days but it came to light late on Monday night with some people informing the temple authorities about the rituals being performed in the priest’s quarters.

A priest at the temple said that Radha Krishna was a scholar in Atharvana Veda which lists the several procedures to conduct rituals to ward off evil and gain prosperity etc. Radha Krisha was allegedly performing a ritual for the ouster of executive officer Rama Chandra Murthy, it is said.

Rich and powerful clients
The suspended priest Ganti Radha Krishna has allegedly a very rich and influential clientele that includes politicians, businessmen and film stars. They seek his expertise in tantric liturgy to annihilate forces that work against them. One of the reasons for the grouse against the EO was that he did not allow Radha Krishna to meet VIP guests visiting the temple which had an adverse effect on his tantric business.
