Hyderabad: Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao should demand that the Andhra Pradesh government redesign the Polavaram project that affects people in Telangana region.
Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Mr Sudhakar Reddy said, “The Central government has failed in implementing the Reorganisation Act. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that there will be no problem for Telangana state if Polavaram is built. We are not against projects but we demand that Polavaram not submerge more mandals. Government should protect Bhadradri from sinking into the Polavaram waters.”
He said the Chief Minister had stated that he would take an all party delegation to the Prime Minister regarding objections to the construction of Polavaram.
“This has not done so yet. It is a shame that government doesn’t have the time to file an affidavit in the court,” he said.
