Omani national says talaq over phone to his Hyderabadi wife

Married woman from Hyderabad has requested Union minister Sushma Swaraj to help her.

Hyderabad: A woman from the city reportedly married to an Omani national was divorced over the phone by her husband. She has requested Union minister Sushma Swaraj to help her. Ms Ghousia Begum of Errakunta in Pahadishareef said she was married to an Oman national Zahran Hamed Al Rajhi on August 11, 2008. “A couple, Khala and Khalu, had facilitated the marriage and I was assured of a house and Rs 10 lakh cash.

“After the marriage, Zahran sent me money every month for expenses and visited India. On August 15, I received a phone call from Zahran. When I took the call, he uttered ‘talaq’ and disconnected the phone. I tried to contact him again, but he is not taking my calls or calling back,” she said. The woman requested Ms Swaraj to help her. “I request the minister to settle my issue and do justice to me,” she said
