Nellore: Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy once again came down heavily against Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials for contamination of drinking water being supplied in Podalakur Road, Vengalrao Nagar and Vedayapalem areas. During a visit to the areas as part of his 105 days long Praja Bata on Monday, he was visibly upset when locals shown him the colour of the water coming from the taps.
Alleging that the water is not even fit for taking bath let alone drinking, he suspected the quality of water in the summer storage tank, which is source for the water supply. Pointing to the paintings on the walls all over the city as part of Swachh Nellore programme, he sarcastically said that the Swachh initiative will be successful if the civic body supplies potable drinking water and maintain hygienic conditions in the city. The YSR Congress MLA demanded the municipal commissioner to take immediate steps to prevent contamination of water.
