Hyderabad: IMA tells doctors to take digital route
Hyderabad: After the arrest of renowned Mumbai oncologist Dr Suresh Advani, a Padma Bhushan awardee, for allegedly transporting Rs 10 crore in demonetised currency notes, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has warned all its members against hoarding money, to ensure that their practice is transparent, and to accept digital payments.
IMA president Dr K.K. Aggarwal said many senior doctors were “having issues going digital. We have asked for help from techies. We are urging doctors to use systems where they can charge digitally and also work towards making the practice transparent.”
The IMA, in an advisory, has stated that doctors must keep a margin of 30 per cent for taxes inbuilt in the consultation fee.
A senior doctor, on condition of anonymity, said that “in the corporate set-up, taxes are taken care of, but private hospitals are going to be the worst hit.” He said raising costs for going digital would lead to loss of patients.
