Bengaluru: Three members of a family, including a nine-month-old baby, died when their car collided head on with another one at Talakere in Magadi taluk, in Kudur police station limits, early Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Sannidhi (9 months), Suhas Giri (11) and Premabhai (55), all residents of Bhadravathi in Shivamogga.
The family was going to Savanadurga to attend a thread ceremony (Upanayanam) in a Maruti Omni car. They were going to their family deity Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple at Savanadurga.
When they reached Talakere, a speeding Innova from Bengaluru collided with their car. According to Kudur police, one Parameshwar, who was driving the Omni car, lost control and collided head-on with Innova.
Police said the Innova car driver was driving in a recklessly manner. Otherwise it may not have led to loss of lives.
The Innova car driver and passengers also got injured and are undergoing treatment. Kudur police have registered a case and begun investigation.
