20 people from AP injured in stampede at Sabarimala temple
More than 5,000 devotees are on a deeksha to Sabarimala from Anantapur district.
Anantapur: At least 20 Sabarimala pilgrims from AP were injured, two of them seriously, in a “minor stampede” at the famous hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa on Sunday evening.
A report from Anantapur quoted joint collector B. Lakshmi Kanthamma as saying two of the devotees from AP who were injured in the stampede were in a serious condition.
“We are trying to get details of the victims who are from Anantapur district,” she said.
Bhajana mandalis were alerted to keep track of their members at Sabarimala. More than 5,000 devotees are on a deeksha to Sabarimala from Anantapur district.
