Cyclone May Cause Rains to North Coastal AP

Visakhapatnam: The severe cyclonic storm that is brewing up in the Bay of Bengal might bring heavy rains to north coastal Andhra as per the present trajectory of the system, said senior scientist at IMD Amaravati Dr S. Karunasagar.

He said it was too early to predict the direction of the system. As per the analysis, it might make a landfall in Bangladesh.

He said rains lashed parts of Coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions in the past three days which resulted in dip of temperature by three to five degrees Celsius in many parts of the state.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge in the South Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood on Sunday (November 26). Under its influence, a low- pressure area is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around Monday. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal on November 29. A private weather website Skymet said the depression might intensify into a severe cyclonic storm.

The weather system may trigger rainfall in Coastal AP from November 28 and the cyclonic storm is expected to make landfall on the Bangladesh coast, added Karunasagar.
