CHENNAI: IIT Madras has once again witnessed a large number of pre-placement offers(PPO), with 158 students having received PPOs. This is the highest ever in recent years. in the academic year 2018-2019, the number of PPOs stood at 135.
Qualcomm, Samsung Research, AB Inbev, Texas Instruments, and Intel were among the major recruiters this year. while Qualcomm made the highest number of offers at 23 . Samsung Research, AB Inbev, and Texas Instruments made eight each while Intel made seven offers.
The major sectors that offered PPOs included core and R&D (41 percent) analytics, consulting and finance (25 percent), Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (4 percent), information technology(21 percent) and other sectors( 9 percent).
A total of 1,334 students have registered for placements for the Academic Year 2019-20. The total number of companies registered for Phase I of Placements is 170.
They will be recruiting for a total of 322 profiles, including 35 international profiles. As many as 54 startups are also coming for recruitment, according to an official statement from IIT-M.
