Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police commissioner Anjani Kumar, on Monday presented a notorious narcotics peddler before the media. He was in possession of 4.2 kg opium.
Gangaram Bishnoi, 36, working as a supervisor in a private firm, Ayodhya Centre in Medchal, Malk-ajgiri, is a native of Bola-kidhani (Village), Jaloor, Rajasthan. About eleven years back he came to Hyderabad for his livelihood. However, with a meagre salary he was unable to run his family and was tempted to earn by illegal means. Around that time, he came in contact with one Bhikaram Bishnoi, 35, who belonged to Khara Village in Jaloor. The latter was looking for someone who could procure and sell drugs in Hyderabad. The substance was brought to town by a private travel bus.
On Monday morning, Gangaram Bishnoi went near the Mallareddy Function Hall Crossroads at Old Bowenpally on his Activa bike. He was apparently trying to sell opium to the addicts hanging around.
Camping nearby, police caught him red-handed and seized one kg of opium, a pocket digital weighing machine and one spoon in his vehicle. On questioning, he confessed and led police to his house situated at Sri Krishna Nagar in Suchitra.
In the house, they found 3.2 kg opium and two digital weighing machines. The opium costs around Rs 20 lakh.
