Tech helps improve tax yield in Mahbubnagar district
The municipal administration and urban development department directed them to survey and geo-tag properties.
Hyderabad: Adoption of technology in tax collections has yielded good results in undivided Mahbubnagar district, which was bifurcated into Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba-Gadwal districts.
Undivided Mahbubnagar had four municipalities – Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy, Gadwal and Narayanpet. The municipal administration and urban development department directed them to survey and geo-tag properties.
An official said the geo-tagging process had resulted in identifying owners of 1,689 properties who were avoiding taxes for years. The municipal commissioners sent show-cause notices to the owners seeking explanation and insisted them to pay tax along with arrears. It led to Rs 9.14 crore more revenue from the four.
