Telangana: 6 schools under fire for safety

Telangana fire service officials have initiated legal action against the management of six educational institutions.

Hyderabad: Telangana fire service officials have initiated legal action against the management of six educational institutions in Sangareddy district for violating fire safety standards. The fire department held surprise checks across 15 schools this month based on computer-generated random instructions and these six were found to be violating the conditions of the NOCs.

Director General for fire services Mr. Rajiv Ratan said that serious violations such as deficiency in open space and fire fighting equipment, non-functioning of manual call points, old fire extinguishers which were not in working condition, construction of additional floors against the NOC were identified during checks. He said that legal action would be taken against the six schools and colleges.
