Kottayam: Unmoved NSS sticks to stand

Nair said the state government stood against the faithful, the rituals and the practices in order to do away with faith in god.

Kottayam: General secretary of Nair Service Society G. Sukumaran Nair on Friday said his organisation changed its stand from the political equidistance to 'right distance' because the central and state governments took actions that disfavoured the people in the matter of protecting faith. The organisation will stick to its policy which the time will prove right, he said.

Mr Nair said the state government stood against the faithful, the rituals and the practices in order to do away with faith in god. The state government is now doing things willfully to denigrate the forward communities and appease other sections.

He said the NSS had warned about the way the state government had blocked the benefits which were enjoyed by the forward communities and the economically backward among them.

The NSS leader said there was no base for the allegation that the NSS used its community influence to muster votes for the UDF.
