Bengaluru: Rowdy murdered in daylight near mall
Bengaluru: Frequent police shootouts to disarm and arrest anti-social elements in recent months in the city are apparently not acting as a deterrent, as a rowdy was hacked to death by three assailants in broad daylight right in front of the crowded Phoenix Mall on Friday evening.
The deceased rowdy, Manja, was riding his Bullet bike in front of the mall when the three assailants, who were waiting on a scooter, waylaid him and attacked him with long swords. They killed him on the spot, disfigured his face and fled from the scene.
The entire incident occurred in full public view and the crowd ran helter-skelter when the attack started, the police said.
Manja, who was involved in a murder one-and-a-half years ago, was jailed in the case and released recently. He had a rivalry with another rowdy Rohith and had hacked his friend to death. The police suspect that Manja’s murder was to avenge that.
Mahadevapura police rushed to the spot and started the investigation. The police got photographs of the murderers from the public, which clearly showed the registration number of the scooter used in the crime.
