Chennai: A 27-year-old man was arrested under Pocso Act for allegedly harassing a minor girl on Wednesday.
The arrested was identified as E.Dharmalingam (27), a taxi driver by profession and a resident of MMDA colony in Arumbakkam, was close to the victim’s family.
According to police, the girl’s father and mother had gone to work on Wednesday when the taxi driver who works at a private firm in Thousand lights visited the house and sexually harassed their 17-year-old daughter who was alone in the house. Later on Wednesday evening, the girl complained to her mother about the incident.
The girl alleged that the taxi driver threatened to kill her mother if she would say anyone about the incident.
The mother after confronting it to the man registered a complaint at Thousand lights All women police station.
The police team arrested Dharmalingam under Pocso Act and remanded him to judicial custody.
