Bengaluru: 3 killed in separate road accidents

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Bharadwaj, a resident of Kengeri and a third year engineering student in Don Bosco college.

Bengaluru: Three people died on the spot in separate road accidents since Wednesday in Kengeri and Yelahanka traffic police station limits.

In the first accident, an engineering student died on the spot after he lost control over his bike and rammed into the footpath on Wednesday evening in Kengeri traffic police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Bharadwaj, a resident of Kengeri and a third year engineering student in Don Bosco college. The police said that he had bought a new Apache bike just a few days ago and on Wednesday after returning from college, he took his new bike out for a jolly ride when the accident took place.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 5:30 pm near KHB when he lost control over the bike and rammed into a footpath. As a result, he fell down and his head crashed into the corner of the footpath. The passerby immediately rushed him to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police said that he was not wearing a helmet and hence sustained severe head injuries. The Kengeri traffic police have registered a case.

In another incident, a 24 year old pedestrian was knocked down by a speeding BMTC bus while he was crossing the road on Wednesday afternoon in Yelahanka traffic police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Sayed Mayisa, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh and was a daily wage worker.

According to the police, at around 3:30 pm, Sayed was crossing Doddaballapur Road opposite RMZ Galeria mall when the bus knocked him down. Sayed died on the spot due to severe head injuries. The Yelahanka traffic police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested the bus driver, Abdul Jaffer.

In another accident, a pedestrian died on the spot when a BMTC bus heading from Hoskote towards Yelahanka knocked him down while he was crossing the road near Kogilu Bellahalli village. The deceased has been identified as Krishnappa P, 70, a resident of Kogilu village who worked as a daily wage labourer.

The police said that the accident took place around 8.20 am on Thursday morning when Krishnappa had come to a shop and was returning to his house. The police have seized the bus and arrested the driver identified as Shivakumar. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered two cases and are investigating further.
