Sana Iqbal's was not a happy marriage, say friends

The funeral was attended by over 200 bikers from places such as Indore, Bengaluru, Meerut, Delhi, and Punjab.

Hyderabad: Cross-country biker Sana Iqbal’s funeral was attended by hundreds of people, the most conspicuous of them was her husband Abdul Nadeem. Mr Nadeem arrived at the burial ground with the couple’s two-year-old son with police protection. He has been accused by Sana’s mother of planning and executing her murder.

Rahool Saxena, a biker who attended the funeral, said, “We had no news about her husband until five minutes before the burial. One of the relatives contacted us and asked us to halt the proceedings for five minutes. Abdul arrived with the baby and four constables, stood there for two minutes, and left.”

The funeral was attended by over 200 bikers from places such as Indore, Bengaluru, Meerut, Delhi, and Punjab. Biker Sonali Mukherjee drove down from Bengaluru to attend the funeral.

Pallabi Roy, a former colleague and flatmate of Sana’s, travelled to Hyderabad from Indore. “I knew both Sana and Nadeem personally, and I do not rule out the possibility of him having played a role in this. We hope that Sana’s family gets custody of the child,” she said.

Many of Sana’s friends maintain that she was indeed troubled by her marriage. Jai Bharathi, a fellow biker, said, “I knew Sana even before her marriage. Her marriage wasn’t a happy one; within three or four months she moved out and was living with her mother. I never saw her husband around even when her son was born.”
