MK Stalin urges DMK members to gear up for monsoon
Chennai: DMK working president M.K. Stalin has called upon his party members to gear up to face “extraordinary circumstances” during cyclone and help the people in distress. Accusing AIADMK of being “stuck in a perpetual celebration mode” and “oblivious to the upcoming monsoon,” Stalin charged that “precautionary” measures aren’t drawn to make the cities and municipalities resilient to disasters.
“Chennai infrastructure is woefully bad, which is revealed by water stagnation in many of our streets, even after a drizzle. The ‘Horse trading’ government which is adept in diverting the issue is now religiously imposing fines in name of tackilng dengue, while not maintaining and desilting storm water drains,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday. He urged the DMK functionaries to focus on proactive measures like identifying the areas chronically affected by waterlogging and flash floods.
