Kaleswaram verdict today: Hyderabad high Court

The bench said that if the doubts were clarified only then will it decide with regard to hearing of the petition.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad high Court on Wednesday said it will decide on Thursday whether the plea of the Telangana state government, seeking to vacate the stay granted by the National Green Tribunal at Delhi, on the construction of Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, can be heard or not only after clarification of its doubts on interim order of the tribunal.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J. Uma Devi, while dealing with the petition of the state government, said that they felt that the petition should be returned but they had some doubts on the order of the tribunal and asked the Advocate General to clarify the doubts.

The bench said that if the doubts were clarified only then will it decide with regard to hearing of the petition.

Meanwhile, chief engineer of the Kaleswaram project Hari Ram filed an additional affidavit before the court stating that they had applied to the Centre for forest and environment clearances for the project and they are under consideration.

The bench adjourned the case to Thursday.
