I'm not lying! I didn't know about steel bridge project: DV Sadananda Gowda

Bengaluru: If one goes by Bengaluru City Development Minister K. J. George, the Union Minister for Planning and Statistics D. V. Sadananda Gowda backed the proposed steel bridge project.

Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, the city minister said," Mr Gowda, in the city on Sunday last, wanted to meet me to discuss the project. So, I, along with senior officers of Bangalore Development Authority met and explained to him about the project that's aimed at easing traffic on Ballari Road. The union minister said it is 'good' and wanted me to explain the benefits of the steel bridge to people through media".

Mr Gowda, when contacted, however had this to say: "I asked Mr George why he had kept me in dark as I knew nothing about it. I should have been briefed about the project since the project is being taken up in my constituency (Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency). I told him the steel bridge is a waste of tax payers' money. Besides, there has been a cost escalation of the project. I wanted these points to be told to citizens. I stand by my statement”.
