Congress to release manifesto for Punjab polls next month

The party's state manifesto committee met in Chandigarh to give the final shape to its manifesto for the Assembly elections due in 2017.

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress on Wednesday said it will come out with its election manifesto for the upcoming state Assembly polls in mid November.

The party's state manifesto committee met in Chandigarh to give the final shape to its manifesto for the Assembly elections due early next year.

The manifesto has been given final touches based on the inputs received from the committee members and other party leaders. It will now be submitted to the Congress high-command in New Delhi for the final approval, the party said in a release, adding it is aiming release it around mid-November.

According to manifesto committee convenor Manpreet Badal, the members deliberated on the draft manifesto at the Congress Bhawan and provided their suggestions.

Certain changes have been made to the draft based on these suggestions and inputs, Badal said, adding, "the manifesto is ready and will now be presented to the Congress leadership".

He said all sections of the society have been adequately covered in the draft manifesto.

The meeting, among others, was attended by AICC general secretaries -- Ambika Soni and Asha Kumari, secretary Harish Choudhary, manifesto committee chairperson Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, state party senior vice president Sunil Jakhar, MLAs Brahm Mohindra, Sadhu Singh Dharmsot and senior party leaders.
