Agra Sweet unit in Secunderabad sealed
Hyderabad: Agra Sweet House in West Marredpally was sealed on Tuesday by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board sanitary wing for unhygienic conditions, especially in the kitchen Board officials, during a surprise check, found a toilet located close to the cooking area, and poor maintenance. The outlet had not renewed its trade licence with the SCB.
On Monday, the SCB had also sealed Delhi Wala Sweet House on Sikh Road and Bangalore Iyengar Bakery at Lal Bazaar. Mr A. Mahender, SCB in-charge for health and trade licence, said, “As per the CEO’s order, three food outlets were sealed. All three were operating without trade licence and maintaining unhygienic conditions. With regard to Agra Sweets, they were running the kitchen from the cellar space meant for parking. There was no ventilation, and unhygienic conditions prevailed. We found a toilet next to the cooking area. The SCB had issued several notices but they had failed to apply for the licence.”
SCB chief executive officer Sujatha Gupta added, “The SCB health and sanitation wing will conduct raids until food outlets comply with hygiene requirements, especially in the kitchen. SCB advises the public to be very selective while purchasing food, cleanliness of shops are very important.” She said citizens could complain to the SCB in case they noticed any stores with below par hygiene. The party concerned has to meet the SCB standards and reapply for trade licence. In case of repeated violations, licences will be cancelled.
