TRS admin in tatters as depts remain scattered

People run from pillar to post to get works done.

Hyderabad: Though the state government has moved several departments from the existing secretariat building to its new quarters at BRK Bhavan, several ministers and bureaucrats are working from home as renovations are still underway in the new building.

The current situation at BRK Bhavan is that the ministers are working from one place, bureaucrats are located at another place, and the secretariat employees are in yet another place, making it difficult for citizens who have to meet ministers and officers to do so without hopping from place to place. The renovation work has been ongoing for two months now.

Another disadvantage of the current location is the ubiquitous mosquito, which infests the place. At least 10 per cent of employees have suffered viral fevers, spread my mosquitoes, and others are worried that they will be the next victims, said members of the Secretariat Employees Association.

It is rumoured that some ministers are not ready to move into their new quarters because of Vasthu issues. Some are working from home and others from their department offices.

Some bureaucrats have not visited BRK Bhavan where their new offices have been shifted, even once, and are supervising work from their homes and department offices.

Finance minister T. Harish Rao is working from his home in Kondapur. IT and MA & UD minister K.T. Rama Rao is supervising work from the office of the Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation at AC Guards. Law and forest minister A. Indrakaran Reddy is working from the Endowments office in Boggulakunta.

Roads and buildings minister V. Prashanth Reddy is operating from Erram Manzil, while Panchayat Raj minister E. Dayakar Rao is working from the Rangareddy Zilla Parishad office. Agriculture minister S. Niranjan Reddy is working from HACA Bhavan.

Still in the old secretariat building are ministers Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Etala Rajender, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Koppula Eshwar, V. Srini-vas Goud, G. Jagadeesh Reddy, and a few others.

Though BRK Bhavan has nine floors, accommodating 2,000 employees is proving to be difficult.

The secretariat at Saifabad used to have around 600 to 800 visitors from across the state every day, who wished to meet the concerned department officials with their grievances. But at BRK Bhavan, visitors are not allowed in by security personnel.

The media has also not been allowed into the premises and has been informed by security personnel that renovation work is underway and they have been ordered not to allow media and visitors access.
