Hyderabad: Farmer seeks aid after 5,000 chickens drown
Hyderabad: Due to the heavy rains, a poultry farmer had to suffer losses worth Rs 5 lakh after 5,000 chickens drowned from inundation in the farm.
The farm, which is located in a low-lying area in Babaguda, Shamirpet, was inundated by water from a nearby nala.
With tears in his eyes, the farmer, A. Srisailam, who took the poultry farm on lease, pleaded for assistance.
“The birds died due to flooding of farm overnight. I lost my entire investment. I request the government to extend financial assistance as I won’t be able to recover my loses,” Mr Srisailam said.
While Medchal-Malkajgiri district veterinary officer T. Vijaya Sekhar Reddy estimated the loss to be around `5 lakh. He said a detailed report would be sent to the government for taking necessary steps.
