Kempegowda Layout: Online site allotment begins
Bengaluru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his deputy Dr G. Parameshwar on Tuesday inaugurated allotment of BDA sites at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout through online lottery system. The layout, spreading across Kengeri and Yeshwanthapura hoblis, stretches across 4,043 acres and 27 guntas. The work started in 2003 and so far, 2,383 acres and 11 guntas have been used to create 17,920 sites. Under Phase-I, 5,000 sites were allotted to public, 2,157 to land losers and 849 sites to those who lost sites in Arkavathy Layout.
Under Phase-II, 4,971 sites will be allotted to the public, 3,800 to land losers and 1,650 to those who lost land to arterial road project. 20 per cent of the sites will be allotted to economically weaker sections and a 50 per cent subsidy will be given in the allotment rate. The infrastructure will be built at a cost of '2,770 crore.
Dr Parameshwar said, “Sites will be allotted on the basis of randomisation of numbers through computer, which will be done by the chief minister and I.” He said 15,120 applications have been received. “Once the site is allotted, the allottee has to pay the full amount within two months. An extension of three months will be given, but with an interest rate of 18-21%. SC/STs will get three years to pay the amount. We will ask banks to conduct loan melas.”
