Gynaecology unit to open at NIMS

Doctors state that although infrastructure is present in the hospital, it is not being utilised to the optimum level.

Hyderabad: A separate obstetrics and gynaecology facility will be started at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in a bid to reduce the burden on Niloufer Hospital since the number of gynaecology patients in Niloufer Hospital is very high. Despite there being two buildings the patients are not being handled properly.

According to sources, at the Niloufer Hospital there is a need for proper management as major concentration is on the paediatric unit rather than the gynaecology unit. The latter unit is not given the required attention and hence it is not unable to manage the patients properly, stated senior doctors. The superintendents are mostly paediatric doctors and a gynaecologist was appointed only when there are maternal deaths.
