BENGALURU: After spending weeks in jail, V. Shashidhar of Akhila Karnataka Police Maha Sangha (AKPMS), was finally granted bail, subject to certain condition, by the high court on Thursday.
Shashidhar was accused of several charges following the June 4 call for a strike by police constabulary and was arrested on the night before from his residence. The constabulary’s plan for mass leave on June 4 was foiled. Shashidhar, an ex-policeman and founder of AKPMS was demanding better facilities and working conditions for the lower rung police staff. Justice Anand Byrareddy, who granted bail to Shashidhar, has imposed stringent conditions on him including directions not to hold any protests or meetings about the issue.
Warned for taking pics
The high court witnessed high drama after a teenage girl was found clicking pictures using her mobile phone, while seated inside the court hall. The incident took place inside the Court Hall Number 2 when the judge noticed that a girl wearing burqa was using her phone to take pictures. The photographs were deleted, and the authorities let her off with a warning
