The political parties who have jumped to champion the reservation cause can do justice to its beneficiaries and those who oppose quotas by coming out with the data on representation or lack of it and settle the issue.
DMK President M K Stalin demanded the full implementation of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Central government education institutions and jobs and the abolition of creamy layer concept.
Accusing the BJP government of trying to destroy OBC reservation by not even filling up 50 per cent of the 27 per cent quota in educational institutions, Stalin, in a statement, said creamy layer was an obstacle for the development of OBCs through the Mandal Commission recommendations.
Pointing out that the income ceiling for creamy layer had not been increased nine times in the 27 years since 1993 but only four times, he wanted creamy layer to be done away with as it goes against the spirit of social justice.
