Vijayawada: 4 TD members suspended from Assembly
Vijayawada: Four members of Opposition TD were suspended from the Assembly from attending the session for the day, on Thursday.
Speaker Tammineni Sitaram suspended Bendlam Ashok, Vasupalli Ganesh, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and Bala Veeranjaneyulu for causing disturbance in the House and not allowing the discussion and passing of key Bills.
The move was taken by the Speaker after Legislative Affairs minister Buggana Rajendranath proposed their suspension.
On Wednesday, three TD MLAs — K. Atchannaidu, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary and Nimmala Ramanaidu - were suspended for protesting the government’s response on pension for women belonging to backward and minority communities.
The remaining TD members, led by opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu, staged a walkout in protest against the suspension of their fellow legislators.
The TD members had tried to disrupt proceedings when Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was speaking on utilisation of river water and the recent agreement between AP and Telangana following which Mr Rajendranath moved a motion for their suspension.
The Speaker said that it was unfortunate that the Opposition members have been disrupting the House when key Bills like that of tenant farmers were to be taken up.
He advised the Opposition members to mend their behaviour and cooperate for the smooth functioning of the House.
