Ooty: Wisdom board to develop knowledge power house

However, it does not draw the attention of all students of the school.

Ooty: Having come to understand that notice boards in the school have failed in their purpose to draw the attention of students, the Gurukulam school at Agalar near here, has come out with a novel concept entitled “Wisdom Board” to make students become wiser through pieces of information on varied fields.

N. Arjunan, correspondent of the school, said that conventionally, notice boards in schools display circulars and notifications, which serve the purpose of announcement of schemes and plans. However, it does not draw the attention of all students of the school.

“After understanding the pulse of the present era students, we have converted all 35 notice boards in the Gurukulam school into Wisdom Boards. Every week each board will exhibit valuable information about different subjects and fields such as, art, literacy, language, mathematics, science and technology, history, geography, environmental science, economics, politics and religion. In a week, a student will learn around 175 pieces of information on different subjects through this concept. In a month there will be 700 pieces of information and by the end of the academic year, if a student studies for 10 years in our school he will know not less than 70,000 pieces of information. This unique approach will help students gain knowledge on varied subjects and equip them to deal with competitive examinations confidently,” Mr. Arjunan noted.

B. Sureshkumar, principal of the school said that apart from academics, a student will become a knowledge power house when he completes his school education. Periodic tests and assignments will also be conducted on these subjects on Wisdom Board and best performer will be awarded, he noted.
