BRTS plan under consideration

Mr Rama Rao said, with Hyderabad Metro Rail doing well, the state government is moving ahead with the remaining phases of the project.

Hyderabad: MA&UD minister K. T. Rama Rao said that government has received a proposal for a Bus Rapid Transit system (BRTS) as the state government is keen on several modes of transportation to ease the life of urban citizens.

“We are already implementing and expanding Hyderabad Metro Rail. MMTC is already functional. Other modes of transportation such as the BRTS are also under consideration,” Mr Rama Rao said. With Hyderabad Metro Rail doing well, the state government is moving ahead with the remaining phases of the project.

“We will launch the 16-km Miyapur-LB Nagar stretch in August and remaining 10 km route in October. The third corridor will be implemented in 2019. The government has identified 42 locations for multi-level parking zones,” said HMRL managing director N.V.S. Reddy.

The minister told the media to visit Kollur village in Sangareddy district, where a township is coming up with 15,600 units.

“As promised, one lakh flats will be ready by next year,” Mr Rama Rao said.
