Hyderabad: 3 injured in cylinder explosion
Hyderabad: Three persons were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a scrap godown at Thirkapally in Karwan on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the injured men were trying to segregate waste, police said. The injured were shifted to hospital and are being treated.
Police said the scrap shop situated opposite SBA Garden started business two years ago. On Tuesday morning three labourers Ashok, Vinod and Chotu were working on the waste when the mishap occurred.
"The workers usually segregate iron and other metallic waste in the godown. After that they are dispatched to other places. They use a hammer and other tools to crush metal objects," said a police official of Kulsumpura.
Around 11.30 am as waste segregation was going on they accidentally happened to hit a small gas cylinder present in the debris and it exploded.
“We are still not sure what gas it was. We think a half kilo gas cylinder exploded. Due to the impact of the explosion three people were injured. While one had major injuries another suffered a head injury. The third one escaped with minor injuries,” police said.
Locals alerted the police. The cops shifted the injured to Osmania Hospital where they are being kept under observation. The CLUES team came to the spot and collected samples from the blast site. A case was booked and is being investigated.
