Camps for youths to take on actors coming to politics
Tirunelveli: Noted anti-nuke activist S.P. Udayakumar is to organise training camps to prepare youths to take on cine actors coming to politics. “To begin with, we are to launch special training camps in all districts for the aspirant youth contestants in local body election from village panchayat councillor to the city corporation members,” he said
Planning to commence the one-day training camp on July 27 for the aspiring youth contestants from districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram, Udayakumar said that participants of the training camp would be enlightened on Indian constitution, laws relating to local administration and the duties and rights of the local bodies.
“Eminent lawyers, former achievers in the local administration will be involved in this mission,” said Udayakumar, who too added that the training would be extended to all the other districts in the state within August 31.
The training camps organised by Patchai Tamilagam Katchi (PTK), however, do not expect the aspirant contestants to join the party,” said the PTK, founding coordinator, Udayakumar, who too added that even youth members of Congress & BJP can participate in the programme after giving an assurance they will work for people. “This written assurance is a must for all participants,” Udayakumar said.
“Cutting across party lines PTK would campaign in the election for youth who underwent the training,” promised Udayakumar, who has taken up this initiative to prepare the youths to grab power to fight out anti-Tamil welfare forces. “Moreover, enhancing our youths to become the leaders too would end cine actors entering politics to fill the political void,” Udayakumar opined.
“If at all they (cine actors) want to enter politics, let them come down to work for the people at least for 10 years, leaving their cinema profession to understand the people’s issues like Gopala Krishna Gokhale’s advice to Mahatma Gandhi when the latter expressed his desire to enter politics in India,” suggested the anti-nuke activist.
