Some persons were allegedly drinking aloe vera juice before coming for questioning by the Special Investigation Team.
SIT officials were not sure if all those who had come for questioning had consumed aloe vera juice.
Hyderabad: Excise commissioner R.V. Chandravadan on Tuesday said the department was contemplating inviting the National Anti-Doping Agency, which tests athletes for banned substances, to run tests on suspects in the drugs case Mr Chandravadan and excise enforcement director Dr Akun Sabharwal said that some persons were allegedly drinking aloe vera juice before coming for questioning by the Special Investigation Team.
There is a belief — though there is no scientific proof — that aloe vera juice detoxes the body and flushes out narcotics. SIT officials were not sure if all those who had come for questioning had consumed aloe vera juice. It is believed that aloe vera has medicinal powers and is used for skin diseases, diabetes and cancer.
