In Karnataka, recovery rate outnumbers covid cases

Yadagiri topped the discharge list with 118 patients getting discharged followed by 88 from Dakshin Kannada

In what could be seen as a silver lining, Karnataka recorded more discharges than fresh Corona positive cases on Thursday. There were 442 fresh COVID-19 positive cases while 519 patients had been discharged after recovery. Bengaluru again recorded the highest cases as per the health bulletin with 113 cases.

The total positive cases in Karnataka stands at 10,560. The fresh cases included 113 from Bengaluru, 35 from Kalburgi, 33 from Ramanagar, 29 from Dakshin Kannada, 26 each from Ballari and Dharwad and 22 from Mysuru. The other districts recorded less than 20 cases.

Yadagiri topped the recovery list with 118 patients getting discharged followed by 88 from Dakshina Kannada.

Bengaluru which has been recording more than 100 cases from the past few days, has created a demand for more ICU beds. There were 63 patients in the ICU on Wednesday which almost doubled to 112 by Thursday evening. There are 160 patients being treated at the ICUs in the state.

There were more than 100 cases of ILI and SARI cases testing positive for Corona. The source of infection of more than 80 patients is yet to be traced by the health officials.

While chief minister Mr B S Yediyurappa warned of lockdown if people continue to violate social distancing norms, there were already rumours about the likelihod of a complete lockdown in Bengaluru. However, BBMP Commissioner Mr Anil Kumar put an end to all speculation by clarifying there were no plans for complete lockdown in Bengaluru. He also went on to put it on record that if such a decision was to be taken then it would be officially communicated and requested citizens not to spread rumours and keep calm.

Of the 6 covid deaths reported in Karnataka, 3 were from Bengaluru. All the 3 deaths from Bengaluru had a history of SARI.
