Kozhikode: The investigation team headed by DySP V.A. Krishnadas failed to hit upon sufficient pieces of evidence to link Anthoor municipal chairperson P.K. Shyamala to the suicide of Sajan Parayil.
The NRK businessman committed suicide June 18 after repeated denial of occupancy certificate to his Rs 16 crore community hall at Bekkalam.
All pieces of evidence are against officials including the municipal secretary who disregarded its engineering wing's recommendation for clearance.
The police team that reached the house of Sajan had examined his room in detail, perusing available documents. The team failed to recover anything that hints at the involvement of any individual, including Ms Shyamala with his death.
Though they found a diary, it did not have any suicide note or details connecting to the delay in issuing occupancy certificate. The team also recorded statements of his widow, Beena, and other relatives.
They believe that the absence of any names in the diary incriminating the municipal chairperson will help her save the head, sources said.
