Hyderabad: Lovers fear kin and try to end lives, man dies
Hyderabad: Apprehensive that their elders may not accept their marriage, a couple from Nalgonda district attempted suicide in a room at Dilsukhnagar by consuming pesticide on Monday night.
While the man, T. Sandeep Reddy, 27, succumbed. Triveni, his partner, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police said they were related and in love but their families were not on good terms which is why they feared their families would turn down their proposal.
Sandeep was residing at a rented room in Vikasnagar at Chaitanyapuri and Triveni at Hasthinapuram. They are natives of Rangareddygudem village in Nalgonda district.
On Monday night, Triveni went to San-deep’s room, where they consumed. They left a note asking their families to bury the bodies beside each other.
At around 9.30 pm, Saidi Reddy, a relative of Sandeep, went to the room and found the duo lying unconscious. With the help of neighbours, he shifted the couple was shifted to a hospital in Malakpet, where Sandeep succumbed and Triveni is battling for life.
Chaitanyapuri inspe-ctor S. Sudarshan said, “They consumed an unidentified pesticide. Sandeep died while undergoing treatment at around 10.30 pm and the Triveni is still undergoing treatment.” A case of suspicious death has been registered based on a complaint from Mr T. Ramreddy, father of Sandeep.
