Kottayam: The dawn-to-dusk hartal declared by the UDF in Idukki district on Monday seeking a solution to the various issues facing the people was complete. The demands included withdrawal of the house construction curbs imposed in eight villages in Munnar region, speeding up the issuance of title deeds in Devikulam and Peerumade taluks and support prices for crops like rubber, cardamom, coffee and pepper.
The tourists were stranded as hartal supporters blocked the vehicles at various points in Kattapana town, Adimaly, Pathammile, and Irumbupalam. The prohibitory orders were issued in the 8 villages in Munnar in 2010 by the HC. The order maintained that no construction activities will be taken places in Munnar without the prior permission of the revenue department.
