Assault on driver: ADGP Sudhesh Kumar wants' amicable pact
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even as pressure is mounting on police driver A. Gavaskar to settle the case against ADGP Sudhesh Kumar's daughter, police sources say that's not easy since the charges included obstructing a public servant from discharging duties. DC reliably learns the case against her is getting tighter, and the ADGP is exploring options of pursuing Mr Gavaskar for an amicable settlement. "Impact of a criminal case on his 25-year old daughter's future career will be a serious worry for the senior IPS officer," an officer said.
"The ADGP could have moved this direction at its initial stage itself by tendering an apology instead of filing counter-case if the allegation against his daughter was true." According to police sources, since the case was already registered it could be withdrawn only with the court's permission. Since the case involved obstructing a police official from discharging his duties, the court need not easily entertain a settlement, unlike in cases involving two individuals.
The daughter was also understood to be keeping off from seeking anticipatory bail as she got a legal opinion that it may boomerang. Meanwhile, there are also allegations that the crime branch was deliberately delaying her arrest even as she was facing non-bailable charges. The CB team led by anti-piracy cell SP B. K. Prasanthan Kani had subjected the ADGP's official vehicle for scientific examinations.
