Bengaluru: One train every 15 mins not enough! Commuters fume
The mob of people attempting to fit into the train found themselves at the very entrance of the coaches.

Bengaluru: BMRCL’s decision to reduce train frequency to 15 minutes on Sundays and start commercial service from 8 am, instead of 5 am, has not gone down well with the commuters.
All across the north corridor on Green Line, passengers kept piling up on the platforms during the 15 minute wait. When metro doors opened at each station, people began rough it out to squeeze their way in, resulting in fights.
“We got on from Rajajinagar metro station. Due to some technical problem the staff did not give us tickets till Jayanagar and told us to get off at National College. The metro took 10-15 minutes to arrive and it was so overcrowded,” said Swayamprabha, who was travelling with her family after attending a function.
The mob of people attempting to fit into the train found themselves at the very entrance of the coaches. Doors began beeping and were not closing as there were too many people near the door.
In addition Metro suffered a signalling issue. Vasanth Rao, CPRO of BMRCL said in a statement, “Signalling fault service interrupted the metro between Yelachenahalli and Jayanagar since 2 pm. It may resume by 3:30 pm. Short loop service is now available from National College onwards.”
“Either give us more coaches or increase frequency. At least one facility should be there, they cannot deprive us of both. This is more crowded than a BMTC bus,” Swayamprabha complained.
Lokesh, member of Karnataka Railway Vedike said, “It is a bad decision to start metro commercial service only from 8 am. Plenty of people leave or arrive in long distance trains. They switch between Majestic and Yeshwanthpur Railway to Metro stations, early in the mornings.”
“Many trains leave from Majestic as early as 4 am even on weekends. Rajdhani Express, Hampi Express, Mysore Express and trains toThe operation on the Green Line was affected on Sunday due to technical failure at Yelachennahalli (at 2.15 pm) and later at RV Road (2.45 pm).
According to BMRCL Chief Public Relations officer short loop operations were carried out between RV Road to Nagasandra stations during this period. The faults were cleared and normal services were restored from 3.20 pm. In order to clear the rush short loop operations were also carried out between National College to Nagasandra and Sampige road to Yelachennahalli, he added. Chennai and other places leave between 4 am and 6 am,” Lokesh pointed out.
