Rs 50 lakh Amrut funds for park development in Nellore

Centre had introduced the Amrut scheme almost a year ago.

Nellore: The mayor of Nellore Municipal Corporation Sk. Abdul Azeez set the foundation stone for the development of a park to be taken up with Rs 50 lakh Amrut funds, near Anil Gardens on the mini bypass road in Nellore on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that the Centre had introduced the Amrut Scheme almost a year ago and any project taken up under this programme had to be completed in five years time.

A total of Rs 50,000 crore was sanctioned under the scheme across the country and of that Rs 2,750 crore would be the share for the state. The NMC had sent Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to the Centre for the development of parks in Nellore and also for the development of an irrigation canal with Rs 10 crore.

"Under the programme several development works are in progress in Nellore, but some vested interests are making baseless allegations for their personal gains and trying to throw mud on the NMC. Such vested interests should be discouraged if they try to do so," the mayor added.

He exhorted them to stop such baseless allegations and come forward to work for the development of the city. He advised them development should be above political interests as people are keenly observing all the leaders. Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who was the chief guest for the function, complimented the mayor for working for the development of the city. He opined that they would have no objection to work with the ruling party if the NMC allocates the funds equally to all the 54 wards in the city. He declared that he is ready to work with the TD rural in-charge Adala Prabhakar Reddy, ma-yor and local corporator.

TD city president Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy said that Abdul Azeez is doing a justifiable administration and development is taking place in a never before manner. He reiterated that the Telugu Desam government would always provide a clean administration. TD rural convener Kilari Venkata Swamy Naidu said that the earlier government misused the funds and neither look after the welfare of people nor taken up any developmental work.
