After Amma, Anna NTR canteen to serve meals at subsidised rates in AP
Hyderabad: Treading on the footsteps of AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa, Chandrababu Naidu launched the Anna NTR canteen in Amaravati on Saturday. Like the much talked of Amma canteens in Tamil Nadu, they will be serving food at subsidised rates. The development being populist in nature, aims to support small time workers, wage workers and poor people.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the canteen at the interim Secretariat Complex in Amaravati. The canteen has been named after Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder-president N T Rama Rao. Earlier, the canteen was named as ‘Chandraanna’. However, the chief minister after being censured for the same decided to stick to NTR’s name.
In future, the government will launch more canteens across the state to facilitate people with sumptuous meal at subsidised rates. According to the price chart, breakfast which would include Idli, Upma and Pongal will be served at Rs 5 per plate, lunch — Sambar rice, lemon rice and curd rice — will be served at Rs 7.50 per plate and Rs 6.50 per plate respectively, dinner — two chapatis and vegetable curry — will be served at Rs 7.50 per plate.
The government will flag off 35 canteens in Guntur, Vishakhapatnam, Tirupati and Anantapur in the first phase.
After the inauguration, the chief minister served food to customers at the canteen, following which he also had breakfast there.
The aforementioned canteen is a pilot project of the government, said Chandrababu Naidu. “We’ll initially establish Anna canteens in 29 villages in the new capital city region of Amaravati,” he said.
