Telangana to release to-the-point report cards of development in nine years

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will counter Opposition charges on welfare schemes and development programmes with well-edited to-the-point 'report cards' that highlight the achievements of the BRS government in the nine years since he assumed office on June 2, 2014, when Telangana state came into existence.

These report cards are aimed to negate the Opposition parties’ charges that the state had not witnessed no major development and that welfare schemes were not reaching the beneficiaries.

Fine-tuning the department-wise 'report cards,' which will be released during the 21-day celebrations to mark the 10th Telangana state Formation Day from June 2, the CM has obtained details from ministers and officials.

"The CM wants report cards to be concise. Each department has submitted reports comprising hundreds of pages with statistics over the nine years. The CM is reviewing these reports with officials and giving them suggestions on what portions should be highlighted and how they should be presented in a short and
crisp manner," official sources said.

Sources said the agriculture department had submitted voluminous data to show that the BRS government had spent ₹4.5 lakh crore on agriculture and allied sectors for the benefit of farmers. It submitted data of lakhs of farmers who benefited through Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, free power, irrigation facilities,
food grain procurement at minimum support price, among others. This data will be presented in a neatly summarised and contexted form.

The panchayat raj department provided data of 45 lakh beneficiaries getting Aasara pensions every month in different categories, the welfare departments of BCs, SCs, STs and minorities sent a huge database on the amount spent on welfare schemes and number of beneficiaries and the power department highlighted uninterrupted supply, and the IT and industries department has submitted data on the number of jobs created in its space by attracting investments.
