Centre to launch Rs. 75 coin to mark new Parliament building's inauguration

NEW DELHI: The Government of India will issue a commemorative Rs 75 coin to mark the inauguration of the new Parliament Building on May 28, 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The coin will be made of a four-part alloy, comprising 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel and 5 per cent zinc. It will be circular in shape with a diameter of 44 millimeters and have 200 serrations along its edges. The weight of the coin could be 34.65- 35.35 gram.

One side of the coin will bear the image of the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre flanked by the word 'Bharat' in Devnagri script and 'INDIA' in English. Rupee symbol '₹' and denominational value '75' in international numeral will also be inscribed below the Lion Capital.

The other side of the coin will bear the portrait of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose saluting the flag on the background of cellular jail. A numeral 75th along with inscription “anniversary” is depicted below the portrait.

An inscription in Devanagari script and “FIRST FLAG HOISTING DAY” in English will be written in the left and right periphery of the coin.
